Well isn’t this just special? It’s candid moments like this when our “leaders” in Washington let slip out what they really think about us, and the Republican Speaker of the House of Representatives is no different.

When speaking recently to Greta Van Susteren on FoxNews regarding the TARP bailout, Speaker Boehner had this to say:

BOEHNER: I mean, I think that he’s a practical conservative. He’s got a very conservative voting record, but he’s not a knuckle-dragger, all right? He understood that TARP, while none of us wanted to do it, if we were going to save — save our economy, save the world economy, it had to happen. I wish we didn’t have to do it, either, but he understood that.

Yes, so even though Ryan has a conservative voting record, its not SO conservative that he’s a “knuckle-dragger”. Yes you see…because to be very conservative gets you dangerously into “knuckle-dragging” territory. (You can’t see me rolling my eyes right now) It’s this kind of sentiment that fosters a fundamental distrust of the “establishment” political folks, just like when Lt. Governor Bolling’s political director (Marisa Pugmire) indicated that she wanted tea party folks to go away (paraphrased).

Let Boehner’s comments serve as a stark reminder that Washington still doesn’t “get it” on the economy. When the GOP House Speaker feels this way, you know we have a long road ahead.
