There is wisdom in that advice from the Old Testament that warns the good people who strive to counter the bad to look away from the evil every now and then, and to set their attention on what is good and divine. It is a very real threat to always incessantly gaze and focus on evil. This is what many of us do to counter and defeat evil. We end up obsessing over every battle, every post, every threat. We think of it as what we must do. It is a sacred duty. But this effort can become a very real threat to our human condition. Even if you are of good spirit your soul will eventually be tainted if you do not break away from the battle from time to time. The inspired words of warning spoke of the human need to not incessantly dwell on evil, but to spend time with what is good and what is divine. In our time with loved ones, enjoy the moment and quarantine the political commentary for now. That balance would be crucial in the battle against evil because it is in that break that we reaffirm our ties to ourselves, our families, our friends and our faith. Without that, we will inevitably lose our focus and our footing with the never-ending battles we fight against evil.

So, Christmas is that time to step away and reacquaint yourselves with family, friends and enjoying good times. We have had a difficult outcome in our elections this year, so it is very tempting to just fall into a deep dark hole and stay there. As bad and radical as the Democrats in Virginia have become, the real tragedy is the indictment of so many of our fellow citizens that voted for the worse slate for the executive branch in Virginia history. It was like witnessing the majority of our fellow Virginians lose their minds and vote for the bad people. A vote that only the insane or the incurably corrupt would embrace. But in the historical arc of things, we do have much to be grateful for. Just a year ago, We the People saved our Republic and now are witnessing its’ restoration at a pace that is historic. So many good profound and substantial changes that has been brought about because of We the People rose up, and against all odds, defeated powerful and malignant forces that were on the cusp of destroying our nation. Now we have suffered a terrible loss in Virginia with polices that threatens everyone (even in some ways, the bad guys!) We need all of us to have the best chance of protecting our children, our families and our state from the really bad things that the radical left is sure to advance without mercy or good intent.
But, for now, devote your energies, focus and time to enjoy Christmas with family and friends. Your soul will thank you for it.

Merry Christmas,
