Is the IRS being used as a Swing State political weapon?

By |2019-05-11T16:12:31-04:00February 20th, 2012|Categories: News|Tags: , , , , , , |

There are now at least four examples of the IRS asking very pointed questions to groups that are opposed to Obama's political agenda, and all of them just happen to be in "Swing States." http://www.theblaze.com/stories/is-obama-using-the-irs-to-silence-opposition-voices/ First up, the Ohio Liberty Council. The Ohio Liberty Council has decided that they will refuse to answer the IRS requests for additional information. In a press release, Ohio Liberty Council President, Tom Zawistowski, said: “We find that your requests are unreasonable, overly burdensome, intrusive [...]

Decoding the State Of The Union

By |2019-05-11T16:12:51-04:00January 28th, 2011|Categories: Congress, Featured|Tags: , |

Most Americans couldn't stomach the idea of listening to the state of the union speech. So I've undertaken the daunting task of decoding the speech from the written transcript found at NPR. It's understandable why most people would skip this staged absurdity. When Joe Wilson 2 years ago yelled “you lie”! we had no idea how prophetic his words were.

Martin has introduced S.B 812 to amend the Virginia Freedom of Information Act so that names of local government officials/employees could not be identified along with job titles/positions and salaries. The first question that comes to mind is what business owner/boss does not know exactly who works for him/her and precisely what they are paid ? Perhaps we need to remind the good Senator and others who think as [...]

HB 1721

By |2011-01-25T00:15:56-05:00January 25th, 2011|Categories: Uncategorized|Tags: |

HB 1721 BACKGROUND The General Assembly convened on January 12th and we are following many pieces of legislation. HB 1721 is one that has dire consequences for us. Currently, 67 localities in Virginia are mandated to build Urban Development Areas. HB1721, introduced by Delegate Bob Marshall, would make Urban Development Areas optional rather than mandatory. The bill was recommended to report (passed by a majority of yea votes) by the House Counties, Cities and Towns Sub-committee #2 by a vote [...]

Governor McDonnell Report to VTTP Executive Committee

By |2019-05-11T16:12:52-04:00January 18th, 2011|Categories: Blog|Tags: |

It was certainly a privilege and honor to have the opportunity to meet with the Governor and his staff yesterday at the Capitol. The issue of a new  Transportation Bond issue, and the rather sophomoric explanation of how it isn't going to cost the State a thing was discouraging to say the least. Bonds are debt, pure and simple and regardless of how it is going to be repaid, or what terrific terms we are able to borrow this money, [...]
